The fury here is both Tehuelche and the heavy bass that runs through a Lagartijieando cumbia. These are seriously intense rhythms for explosive dancefloors, combined with the power of the ancestral and mystical hallucinogenic ayahuasca, which are just a few of the characteristics of this mixtape.
Lagartijeando comes from Dolores, a town that was founded in the 19th century to establish an infamous barrier against the advancement of native indians. In retaliation, the town was subsequently destroyed and burnt down. With this mixtape, Lagartijieando pays homage to the tenacity of the Tehuelchan Indians and the original people of the Argentine Patagonia, that fought to the death for their freedom against the European domination and thereby acknowledging the cultural heritage of native Latin Americans.
Matías Zundel (Lagartijeando) has a clear aim: to incorporate folkloric music that spans from Northern Mexico to the southern tip of Argentina, passing through Peru and Bolivia with the dancehall beats of 2010, and why not of 2011!
This mixtape is a sneak peek of Largartijeando's upcoming EP called Neobailongo, released on ZZK Records that features four original tracks and two remixes. Remixes Lagartijeando did for the ZZK labelmates Fauna and folkloric band Doña María.
