Chancha Via Circuito Contributes Song to Sub Pop 1000; Prepares next ZZK/Waxploitation Album
In the middle of his tour, Chancha Via Circuito has been putting the finishing touches on songs for the follow up to his 2011 release “Rio Arriba”. The new album, entitled "Para el Mundo Nuevo" is slated for a late 2013/early 2014 release.
In addition, Sub Pop has tapped Chancha Via Circuito for an exclusive song for Sub Pop 1000, the highly anticipated compilation from the legendary label.
Chancha is contributing the song “Lacandona” to the album, which comes in a strictly limited edition vinyl pressing of 5,000 with a fat booklet and cover art by Nathan Fox and an exclusive image by Paula Duro.
Chancha sits alongside other cult artists such as Peaking Lights, Protomartyr, and His Electro Blue Voice on the album, to be released on Record Store Day.
Chancha Via Circuito’s music is a unique blend of old school South American beats and 21st-century electronics. Trance-like, but intensely rhythmic, his sound has been likened to a cumbia version of Burial, in that (in Pitchfork’s words) it’s “informed by dance music more than it actually functions as dance music”.
